African Cichlids

Cichlids (pronounced / sɪklɨd /) is the fish of the cichlid family in the order Perciformes. Cichlids are members of a group known as Labroidei together with rivets fish Labridae, Pomacentridae betok, and surfperches Embiotocidae this family both large and diverse.

At least 1300 species have been described scientifically, making it one of the largest vertebrate families. The new species discovered every year, and many species are still undescribed. The actual number of species because it is not known, with estimates varying between 1,300 and 3,000.

Cichlids are a family of non-Ostariophysan most species-rich freshwaters throughout the world. They are the most diverse in Africa and South America. It is estimated that Africa alone has at least 1600 species. Central America offers about 120 species, as far north as the Rio Grande in southern Texas. Madagascar has its own unique species, but by far relate to them in mainland Africa. Spread Cichlids mostly in Asia, except for four species in the Jordan Valley in the Middle East, one in Iran, and three in India and Sri Lanka. There are three species found in Cuba and Hispaniola. Europe, Australia, Antarctica, North America and north of the Rio Grande drainage, Cichlids do not have the original, although in Florida, Mexico, Japan and northern Australia, the wild populations of Cichlids have become established as exotics.

Cichlids less commonly found in brackish and saltwater habitats, although many species tolerate brackish water for extended time; Cichlasoma urophthalmus, for example, just at home in freshwater swamps and mangrove swamps, and live and breed in salt water environments such as the mangrove belts around barrier islands Several species of Tilapia, Sarotherodon, and Oreochromis are. euryhaline and can spread along the brackish coastlines between rivers. Only a few Cichlids, however, mainly inhabit brackish or salt water, especially maculatus Etroplus, Etroplus suratensis, and Sarotherodon melanotheron.

Cichlids are still not yet reached the ocean and the island has dominated Gondwanan distribution, show exactly the relationship predicted by the vicariance brother:. Africa-South America and India-Madagascar hypothesis distribution, by contrast, requires Cichlids freshwater to have negotiated thousands of miles of open sea between India and Madagascar with no occupation or any other island, in this case, across the Mozambique Channel to Africa. Malagasy Cichlids exposure to salt water is 100% fatal after 12 hours.

Parrotfish

Parrot fish are a group of fish that have traditionally been regarded as family (Scaridae), but is now often considered a subfamily (Scarinae) from fish rivet. They are found in relatively shallow seas of tropical and subtropical regions throughout the world, but with the greatest species richness in the Indo-Pacific. About 90 species found in coral reefs, seagrass beds and rocky beaches, and play an important role in bioerosion.

Cockatoos are named for their teeth, which is also different from the other Labrids. Many of their teeth arranged in a dense mosaic on the external surface of the jawbone, forming a parrot-like beak with which they rasping algae from coral and other rocky substrates (which contribute to the process of bioerosion).

Although they are considered herbivores, parrot fish eating coral reef organisms, and it is important to note that they need not be vegetarian. Species such as parrots green humphead (Bolbometopon muricatum) including corals (polyps) in their diet they are feeding activity is important for the production and distribution of coral sand on the reef biome and can prevent algae from choking coral .. Teething continues, replace the material worn by the pharyngeal teeth grinding feeding. The rock fish ingests during the meal. After they digest them out like sand stone helps create small islands and sandy Caribbean beaches. One cockatoo can produce 90 kg of sand every year.

Maximum size varies within the family, with the majority of species reach 30-50 cm (12-20 in) in length. However, very few species reach nearly 1 meter (3.3 feet), and green parrotfish humphead reach up to 1.3 meters (4.3 feet).

Their deep body, with large, thick cycloid scales, pectoral and caudal fin large homocercal.

Cockatoo using their breasts as their primary means of power, involved pieces just to reach higher speeds.

Regal Tang

The smell great (Paracanthurus hepatus) is a colorful reef fish in the Acanthuridae family. A fish in a marine aquarium, is the only member of the genus Paracanthurus. Some common name given to the species, including palette surgeonfish, blue tang (which causes confusion with Acanthurus coeruleus Atlantic), royal blue tang, hippo tang, surgeonfish surgeonfish flagtail and blue.
Hepatus Paracanthurus have a royal blue body, yellow tail, and the design of 'palette' black. Lower body is yellow in west-central Indian Ocean. [3] It grows to 31 cm (12.25 in). Species range widely, but a public place. It can be found throughout the Indo-Pacific. This can be seen on the reef East Africa, Japan, Samoa, New Caledonia, and the Great Barrier Reef. This fish is rather flat, like pancakes, with a rounded body shape, snout-like pointed nose, and small scale. Blue tang has 9 dorsal spines, 26-28 dorsal weak fingers, 3 anal spines and 24-26 anal finger weak.

The smell of Blue must be one of the most common marine fish and most popular all over the world. They live in pairs, or in small groups up to 10 or 12 people. These fish reach sexual maturity at 9-12 months of age.

Blue tang is not evaluated by the World Conservation Union (IUCN), but from a low vulnerability.

As a teenager, a diet consisting mainly of plankton. Adults are omnivorous and eat plankton, but will also graze on algae. Spawning occurs in the afternoon and evening. The event was marked with a color change from dark blue to pale blue uniform.

Males aggressively court female members of the school, leading to rapid spawning rush upward towards the water surface during egg and sperm are released. Eggs are small, about 0.8 mm. Eggs are Pelagic, each containing a single drop of oil for flotation. Fertilized eggs hatch in twenty-four hours, revealing small, translucent larvae with silvery belly and tail spines perfect.

Coral Beauty

The Twospined Angelfish, Dusky Angelfish, or Coral Beauty (Centropyge bispinosa), is an omnivorous marine angelfish. Some individuals have purplish dark blue body with yellow stripes to red, and usually an electric blue rim, on the other is orange lines dominate, with purple distributed on the spot. Some form of bright orange that is very similar in appearance to gold angelfish, Centropyge aurantia.

The angelfish twospined is a native of the Indo-Pacific which live in coral reefs and lagoons. Reach a maximum length of 3 inches (8 cm). This eating algae.

When kept in aquariums they are distributed throughout the tank. They prefer reef tanks is more than just fish tanks, but are suitable for both. This species is apparently not suitable for beginners, as the difficulties that are highly rated.

Flame Angel

In captivity, this species feeds on a variety of foods including live brine shrimp, frozen meat and spirulina, seaweed sheets and pellets. The food was simple.

The flame angelfish aquarium known to shy at well-established introduction (especially the smaller specimens) but within a week will gain confidence and then continually seen grazing in the vicinity of live rock in the afternoon. Will fight with other fish if challenged for space or stored with the same species (pygmy angel) in a small tank. Some texts suggest that this should be an additional end of the tank.

This is found in many coral Oceania, most common in Marshall, Line, and the Cook Islands. This fish is also, though rarely, found on the islands of Hawaii.

Koi

Koi (, UK / kɔɪ /, Japan:? [ko i]) or more specifically Nishikigoi (锦鲤, [niɕi̥ki ɡo.i], literally "brocaded carp"?), are ornamental domesticated varieties of carp (Cyprinus carpio), which are kept for decorative purposes in an outdoor koi pond or water garden.

Koi is among the longest-living vertebrates, with some animals that lived more than 200 years. [citation needed] The most popular category is Gosanke koi, which consists of the Kohaku, Taisho Sanshoku, Showa Sanshoku and varieties.

Koi varieties are distinguished by colors, patterns, and scalation. Some of the main colors of white, black, red, yellow, blue, and cream. While color variations that may be almost limitless, breeders have identified and the name of a certain category. The most popular categories are Gosanke, which consists of the Kohaku, Taisho Sanshoku, Showa Sanshoku and varieties.

Koi varieties are still actively developed. Ghost koi, developed in the 1980s, and has become very popular in England. There are hybrids of wild fish and Ogon koi and are distinguished by their metallic scale. Butterfly koi (also known as the Longfin koi, or carp Dragon) was also developed in the 1980s, famous for its fins and their long and flowing. They are a hybrid koi with Asian carp. Butterfly koi and koi Spirit who is considered by some to be not true Nishikigoi.
